Colombia en la carátula de Business Week

The Cover Story en la edición de Mayo 28 se titula Extreme Investing: Inside Colombia y sub - titula: "An improbable journey from crime capital to investment hot spot. Can this boom last?"

No augura muy bien la cosa... habrá que leerlo con calma, reflexionarlo y ya habrá tiempo para comentarlo. En todo caso se tratará de una visión sobre el país desde allá la metrópolis. Y la de una publicación con todas las credenciales para hablar de negocios. El artículo lo escribió Roben Farzad a quien la misma publicación resume:

"...is BusinessWeek's Wall Street and markets editor, based in New York. Prior to joining the magazine in September, 2005, Farzad was a Reston reporting fellow at The New York Times, after receiving his MBA from Harvard Business School. Previously, he was at SmartMoney. A graduate of Princeton University, Farzad began his career at Goldman Sachs Group."

Y la Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans:

"...was born in 1976 in Shiraz, Iran. A 1998 graduate of Princeton University, he majored in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs with a concentration on US-Iran relations. He grins at me in the rear-view mirror as if he has cracked the most original one-liner in history. "Like Scarface," he continues, shifting to his Pakistani/Latino gangster accent: "Say hello to my little friend! Pow! Pow!" He hands me my bags and reminds me to call my mom and make peace with the Almighty before I embark for certain death. "You are crazy, my friend."

Lo dicho, no augura nada bien

UPDATE: Leido el artículo la verdad es que no está nada mal... Aunque están por doquier las digamos inevitables referencias al tema del narcotráfico, la crónica se lee objetiva y procura una visión multifacética de la realidad nacional. El énfasis es Colombia como destino de inversión, una coyuntura que en principio parece de origen más bien azaroso, pero que luego se documenta y explica a lo largo del texto como otra de raíces más sólidas. Se soslaya al final del mismo cuáles son los retos hacia futuro para buscar dar respuesta a la pregunta del sub - título. Creo que comparado con el cubrimiento de prensa que ha tenido el país en las últimas semanas éste reportaje - crónica de Roben Farzad será más que bienvenido
